How To Use This Site

We wish we would have posted this one early on so it would be at the bottom of the blog by now. Unfortunately without a well laid out site plan at the start we had nothing to go on. Now that the site is growing and categories are increasing we feel now is a good time to offer some pointers.

How Are We Going To Do It?

This is a good question and not one that we think we can answer definitively at this time, possibly even for a few years. We’re sure a lot of our initial plans will change as we go along and encounter obstacles and limitations that cannot be overcome. We are also so new and naive to the process and it is so early on that we have only loosely explored things. We started this in mid January of 2009.

There are some things we know we can work on now. The following is a rough list of where we may start…

As we’ve said before we are changing the way we live.  Since we have just begun we can only talk about our ideals, what we hope to do.

Why Are We Doing This?

If you’ve read the About page you will see we provided little information as to who we were.  This was done partially to keep perspective.  We want to skirt around any preconceived notions and stereotypes you may have of people that do this and show that we are just your average run of the mill family looking to become more self-reliant, efficient, thankful family.  We want to show that doing these things can make sense regardless of who you are and what you believe.  Here are a few of our reasons for the change…

Welcome and Explanation

Welcome to sursussel.  Poke around here on the site to read about what it is we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and how we plan to accomplish it.  The Who, What, Why, and How section will explain a lot.  The About page will give minimal background on who we are, and the Books page I hope to fill with all the resources I used during this time.

We currently see this happening over roughly a 10 year period.  The culmination of this period being the entrance into our new home.  The end of this period, be it pre or post 10 year span, will usher in the new life.  So essentially it is possible, if all goes to plan, that this blog could be a source of entertainment, instruction, and dare I say inspiration, for 10-15 years.

We will try to keep track of all of our little experiments and projects as we go along as well as all the included aches and pains.
